One problem would be online testing/exams. I’m in college and I couldn’t take a proctored exam with iPad rendering the iPad useless. That’s why I got a MacBook, because schools assumes everyone uses laptops. So for students, go for the MacBook. iPads aren’t really universal for colleges.

    • @nataliezeller6350

Hi! I know you posted this a while ago but - it’s not possible at all to take proctored exams on the iPad? I’m trying to decide right now whether to get the Ipadpro or the Macpro and this would be a huge deciding factor for me!

    • @youngre6el38

@@miller_john that’s why I said “promise.” There are substantial comments that lead one to believe that WWDC will reveal something incredible regarding the OS allowing the iPad to finally being “more computer like,” but completely understand that at this point nothing is certain.

@@michaelforras in last WWDC Apple run Mac OS with A12Z. Tell me what A12Z can't do, It's just that M1 is 50% more faster thn which was already fast enough. If Apple wanted to make iPad pro a more computer software wise thn they could have done it along with launch of magic keyboard. It's just that costs of production is way cheaper for Apple to use M1 rather thn creating a new chip. They will never cannibalize their MacBooks by making iPad more capable in my humble opinion.

The MBP blows it out of the water due to the built in keyboard and ability to use Mac OS and FCPX and Adobe creative suite. If iPad ran all of these apps and had a second screen for Mac OS, game over, iPad wins due to display, pencil, touchscreen, but for now it’s just a super large gangster iPhone until they make true workflow apps run on their platform and allow folders and other Mac OS specific organizational features. 512gb comes with 8gb ram. 1 tb provides 16 gb ram. That’s the reason you see an unusual jump of $400 in price between 512 gb and 1 tb versions. They factor in the 16gb Ram upgrade in that $400. Bad on Apple not giving an option to choose the Ram, but to make us pay.

I created a spreadsheet for each feature, assigning scores to both products, then multiplied each feature's importance to me by a scale factor, then averaged the scores. The MacBook got 2.7, the iPad got 2.4. So it's close. Although the iPad had some strong scores, the MacBook pulled ahead for me because of the values I placed on features like software availability and OS compatibility. Hardware is great, but software still rules, for me. I swore off laptops after my 2013 MacBook Air which was so hot under the "W key" that I practically burned my finger playing games. However the M1 runs cooler and thermal imaging shows the hottest location is more near the unused middle/upper keyboard area, not the ASDW keys any longer.

Before getting my MacBook Air M1, I had a 2013 but I also had the iPad Pro 2018 and older models. I would use it basically 90% of the time which is probably why I never upgraded my laptop till the M1. Now? I wish I would've waited for the iPad Pro M1. I just prefer the touch interface of the iPhone and iPads but as a web developer, I need those pro apps mainly programming ones. If 2021 we finally see serious pro apps coming to iPadOS, I'll make that permanent switch. I may still do that anyway and just get a cheap Mac mini just in case. ;-)

Are you 100% sure it solves the issue? Cuz my intuition doesn’t match that. At the end of the day, a camera can’t make your eyes look like they’re pointing somewhere they’re not. The ultrawide camera could zoom you out to make the side eye less noticeable, but I don’t yet buy that it can actually correct the problem

There's nothing about the iPad Pro that would make me pick it over the MBP M1 (And I would pick the MBA over the MBP). I've owned two iPads and while they seem cool and I imagine myself doing all sorts of things they both ended up in a drawer. One I forced myself to use as a notepad during one semester, but it was painful. In the end there's simply no case where I wouldn't rather use my iPhone or MBA than an iPad.

i really need an iPad Pro rather than the Macbook Pro because of drawing job, but currently the adobe apps aren’t that optimal in iPad Pro right now, some of ppl say that adobe will optimalized it in 2022 for the apple silicon.
do you think Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, After Effect, and Corel Draw could work well in the iPad Pro M1 with 8GB of RAM in 2022? is it compatible enough for 10 years usage?
if im being realistic of what im doing right now, im gonna go with macbook, we all already know the softwares will works well there bcs those apps are built for the laptop. but, if it does works well on the iPad next year, i’ll be regret my decision so bad for buying a Macbook Pro.
or must i buy 16GB RAM instead? but i can’t it’s too expensive. and i still have to buy apple pencil, keyboard, mouse, and additional ports for the iPad. and the softwares.

Honestly Rene, I feel like people who get iPads should realize that it's an entirely different machine than the MacBook. They're not laptops with touch screen, the only thing they have in common is they're both made by Apple and now they've the same chip. But they're just completely different devices in entirely different media. It's like Fresh water vs Salt water. Both water, but they have entirely different ecosystems and workflows.
The iPad primarily a consumption device with a minor in content creation, and it is single task oriented.
The MacBook is a double major in content creation and consumption, plus it is multitask oriented. It's just heavy to log around.
